Domain Names - Feature Guide

FreshStore lets you register and manage custom domain names directly from your account. A custom domain gives your store a professional, branded web address like yourstorename.com.

How to Register a Domain

Go to my.freshstore.com/find-domain in your account
Search for the domain name you want
You will see a list of available options with different extensions (.com, .net, .store, etc.) and prices
Select the domain you want and complete the purchase

Once registered, the domain is added to your account for you and appears in Domains. You do not need to add it anywhere else. You can then assign it to any of your stores.

Connecting a Domain to Your Store

If you registered the domain through FreshStore, it is already in your account and already pointed at us. There is nothing to add. Choose it when you create a store, or open a store you already have and use Change Domain:

Adding a domain you registered with us will tell you it is already in your account. That is not an error and the domain is not taken by anyone else. It means the work is done and the domain is waiting for you in Domains.

Do I Need a Custom Domain?

No. Every FreshStore account includes free vanity domains that you can use immediately. A custom domain is optional but recommended if you want to:

Build a brand. A custom domain looks more professional and is easier for visitors to remember.
Improve SEO. Custom domains build authority over time and perform better in search engines than subdomains.
Sell your store later. A store on its own domain is a sellable asset. A store on a vanity subdomain is not.

If you are just getting started, a vanity domain is perfectly fine. You can always switch to a custom domain later without losing any content or settings.

Already Own a Domain?

If you registered a domain elsewhere (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.), you can still use it with FreshStore. You will need to update your DNS settings to point to FreshStore.

Domain Renewal

Domains registered through FreshStore are set to renew automatically. You can check your domain's renewal date and status in the Domains section of your account.

How to stop a domain renewing

Go to my.freshstore.com/billing
Find the domain in the Add-ons and renewals list
Click Stop renewing, then confirm on the next page

Nothing ends today. The domain stays registered, and any store on it keeps working, until the registration you have already paid for runs out. After that date we do not renew it.

There is no cancel option on the domain page itself. A renewal is billing, so it is stopped from the billing page.

If you registered your domain elsewhere, renewal is managed by your domain registrar (e.g. GoDaddy, Namecheap), unless you transfer it to us. Please check with them to make sure auto-renewal is set the way you want, so your domain does not expire unexpectedly.

Removing a Domain

To remove a custom domain from your FreshStore account:

Go to Domains in your account
Open the domain you want to remove
Under Domain actions, click Delete this domain

Important: deleting a domain removes it from your account along with its DNS zone, and it cannot be undone. Any store using that address will no longer be reachable on it. If you need help, please contact support.

Why can I not delete my domain?

Delete this domain is greyed out while something still depends on the domain. The page tells you which case applies:

A store is using it. Change that store's domain first, then delete it.
It has a registration with us. Deleting the record would not stop the charge, so the button stays off until the registration expires. Use Stop renewing above to end the billing, then delete the domain once the registration has run out.
It is still being linked to its billing. Contact support and we will remove it for you.

Tips for Choosing a Domain Name

Keep it short and memorable. Shorter domains are easier to type, share, and remember.
Include your niche if possible. A domain like "bestcoffeegear.com" immediately tells visitors what your store is about.
Prefer .com when available. It is the most trusted and recognisable extension. Other extensions like .store, .shop, and .net are fine alternatives.
Avoid hyphens and numbers. They make domains harder to remember and type correctly.
Check for trademark conflicts. Make sure your domain name doesn't infringe on an existing brand.

SSL and HTTPS

All FreshStore domains (custom and vanity) are automatically secured with SSL certificates at no extra cost. Your store will always load over HTTPS.
