Are my stores secured with an SSL Certificate? (HTTPS and SSL explained)

Yes. Every FreshStore is automatically secured with an SSL Certificate at no extra charge. You don't need to do anything.

Your stores will always load securely over HTTPS (e.g. https://yourstore.com).

What is SSL?

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a security technology that encrypts the connection between your store and your visitors. When SSL is active, your store URL starts with https:// instead of http://, and browsers show a padlock icon in the address bar.

This means:

  • Your visitors' data is protected when they browse your store
  • Browsers won't show "Not Secure" warnings on your pages
  • Search engines like Google give a small ranking boost to secure sites
  • Visitors trust stores with the padlock icon more, which increases clicks and conversions

Is SSL Automatic for All Stores?

Yes. SSL is fully automatic for every store you create, whether you use a vanity domain or a custom domain.

  • Vanity domains. SSL is active immediately when your store is created.
  • Custom domains. SSL is provisioned automatically after you connect your domain. This can take a few minutes.

You never need to purchase, install, or renew an SSL certificate yourself. FreshStore handles everything.

WWW Redirect

If you are using a custom domain, your store will automatically redirect the "www" version to the non-www version with SSL. For example, visitors going to https://www.yourdomain.com will be redirected to https://yourdomain.com.

This ensures all your traffic goes to one consistent URL, which is better for SEO.

Troubleshooting

My store shows a "Not Secure" warning

This is rare, but can happen temporarily when:

  • You have just connected a new custom domain and the SSL certificate is still being provisioned. Wait 15-30 minutes and try again.
  • Your store contains mixed content (e.g. images loaded over http:// instead of https://). Contact support and we will help fix this.

My SSL certificate seems to have expired

FreshStore renews SSL certificates automatically. If you see an expiry warning, please contact support and we will resolve it immediately.

If you have any issues with SSL or HTTPS on your store, contact our support team using the help icon in the bottom right of any page. We are always happy to help.
