Internal Links - Feature Guide
Internal links are links from one page of your store to another. They help visitors find more of your content, and they help Google find and understand every page. FreshStore adds them for you in three ways.
You can find the Internal Links page in your store dashboard under Store > Articles > AI Tools > Internal Links.
New AI articles get links automatically
When the Article Writer, the Product Review Writer or Product Booster writes an article, it adds up to 5 links to your other articles, categories and products. It only links words that are already in the article. It never rewrites your text to fit a link.
Links that match a page title exactly are free. Links the AI picks use a small number of AI chips.
You can remove any of these links. Open the Internal Links page, set the filter to Added, and click Undo on the link. The words stay and only the link goes.
Suggestions for your older articles
When you publish a new article, FreshStore looks through your older articles for places that should link to it. These appear as suggestions on the Internal Links page. Nothing changes in an older article until you approve it.
For each suggestion you see the article, the sentence with the linked words in bold, and the page it links to. Click Add link to add it, or Reject to dismiss it. You can select several and add them all at once.
To check all your existing articles, click Find link opportunities. Each article can use some AI chips. You can run it once a day.
Articles with no links in lists the articles that no other article links to. These are the pages search engines find least easily, so they are the best ones to link to.
Suggest links while you write
In the article editor, click Suggest links in the toolbar. FreshStore checks the text in the editor, even before you save, and shows the links it would add. Tick the ones you want and click Add links. Save the article to keep them.
The normal link button in the editor also lists your articles, categories and products by name, so you can link to one without copying its address.
Tips
- An article gets at most 5 new links at a time. At most 3 of those go to other articles and at most 2 go to products.
- A paragraph gets at most one new link, and headings never get links.
- Check the Internal Links page after you publish a few articles. Approving the suggestions takes a minute and links your new content into the rest of your store.
Questions and Troubleshooting
Why does a suggestion say "No longer fits"?
The article changed after the suggestion was made, and the linked words are no longer there, or the article already links to that page. Nothing was changed. You can ignore it.
I clicked Undo and it said the link is no longer in the article.
The link was already removed, for example in the editor. There is nothing left to undo.
Why did Suggest links find nothing?
No other page in your store matched the text closely enough, or the article already links to the matching pages. If you have run out of AI chips, only exact title matches are found.
