Typography - Feature Guide

Typography controls the fonts your store uses. Go to Design > Typography.

Your store uses three fonts: one for titles, one for subtitles, and one for body text. Setting all three well is what makes a store look designed rather than assembled.

Font pairings

Choosing three fonts that work together is the hard part, so the page offers ten ready made combinations. Pick a pairing and the three font settings below update to match. Review them and save to apply.

A pairing is a starting point. Change any of the three afterwards and the store keeps your choice.

Choosing your own

Set the title, subtitle and body fonts individually from the catalogue of 81 fonts below the pairings. Each one also has a weight, so you can set a heading in the bold cut of the same family.

Two rules cover most stores. Use at most two different fonts, letting the title and subtitle share one. And keep body text plain: decorative fonts are hard to read at paragraph length, and your articles are where visitors spend their time.

Check your store on a phone after a font change. A heading font that looks striking on a wide screen can wrap badly on a narrow one.

Seeing it before you commit

The page shows a specimen of your current fonts, so you can compare a heading and a paragraph without leaving the dashboard.

Fonts and Themes

Switching Theme sets all three fonts to the ones that suit the new Theme, so a font choice you made before a switch does not survive it. Reverting a Theme within 30 days brings your fonts back.

If the change does not show

Your store is served through a cache, so a font change can take a few minutes to reach visitors. Your dashboard shows the new fonts immediately. If your storefront still looks unchanged after that, clear your own browser cache.
