Introduction to Building Your Store

In this section of the Profit Playbook, we look at how to build a new store from scratch. Whether you are creating your first store or your tenth, the principles here will help you build something that gets traffic and makes sales.

Start Small

The most important thing to remember is to start your store small. That means:

  • A few well-chosen categories (5-10 is plenty to start)
  • A small selection of quality products in each category
  • 2-3 good articles to get your content started
  • A basic but clean design (don't spend days on this)

You can always add more later. The goal is to get your store live and earning as quickly as possible.

The Fastest Way to Build a Store

FreshStore's AI features let you create a fully populated store in minutes. You have two options:

  • Instant Stores. Choose from a library of pre-built stores in popular niches. AI makes the content unique for you.
  • AI Store Creation. Describe your niche and let AI generate categories, products, articles, and pages automatically.

Both approaches give you a complete store that you can then review, customise, and launch.

What if I Have Already Built My Store?

If you have already created a store, that's great! You can still apply the strategies in this category to improve and modify your store.

Remember, you can delete and create new stores without any extra cost. Your store licenses are reusable. You can also move an existing store to a new domain at any time.

What if I Don't Know What Kind of Store to Build?

If you don't yet have a niche for your store, check out our Niche Research category in the Profit Playbook. It will walk you through finding, researching, and choosing a profitable niche.

The Building Process

Here is the recommended order for building your store:

  1. Choose your niche and domain. Have a clear focus before you start building.
  2. Create your store. Use AI or an Instant Store to get the foundation in place.
  3. Review your categories and products. Make sure they are relevant and well-organised.
  4. Add your affiliate tracking IDs. Without these, you won't earn commissions.
  5. Customise your homepage. Make it welcoming and highlight your best content.
  6. Write a few articles. Start building content that will attract search traffic.
  7. Follow the Launch Plan. Your store dashboard has a built-in checklist to guide you through launch.

Don't aim for perfection. Launch early, then improve over time. A live store that you keep improving will always outperform one that never launches because it's never "ready".
