Join ClickBank with your FreshStore store

ClickBank is a marketplace for digital products such as online courses, software and e-books, plus some physical products such as supplements. Commission rates are often high. It suits stores in niches like fitness, hobbies, language learning and self-improvement. Most products need no approval: once your account is open, you can link to them.

ClickBank links can also go inside your articles. See How to add ClickBank products to your store for the AI Review Writer.

What you need before you apply

  • A live store with real content. Products on the homepage and a few helpful articles. Reviewers open your store, and an empty or unfinished store is often refused.
  • A real email address that you check. Approvals and questions arrive there.
  • Your store URL. Use your custom domain if you have one, because that is the address the reviewer checks.
  • A short description of your store: what it covers and who it helps. Two or three sentences are enough.
  • Your tax and payment details. ClickBank asks for them before it pays you.

Step-by-step: open your ClickBank account

  1. Go to https://www.clickbank.com/start-here/.
  2. Answer the questions about your experience, then click Continue Account Setup (or Continue).
  3. Fill in your name, email address, postal address and a password.
  4. Choose your account nickname. It is your affiliate id and goes into every link. It cannot be changed later, so choose a plain name.
  5. Click Create My Account, then check your email.
  6. In your ClickBank account settings, add your tax details and how you want to be paid.

ClickBank's help pages could not be read when this guide was written, so these steps follow the published shape of ClickBank's sign-up. The form may differ. Use the same details if a field has a new name.

Had a ClickBank account before? Try Forgot Password with your email address first, and use the old account if it is still open.

Approval and getting paid

ClickBank does not review your store before you start, and most products need no approval. A few sellers ask you to apply first; their listing says so.

ClickBank holds your first payment until you have five sales paid with at least two different payment methods (for example Visa and PayPal). It calls this the Customer Distribution Requirement. You choose your payment threshold in your account settings.

If your account is closed or a seller refuses you, contact ClickBank support and ask why. ClickBank closes accounts for spam and misleading promotion, so give accurate details about your store and how you promote products.

Get a link to a product (a HopLink)

  1. In ClickBank, open the Marketplace and find a product that fits your store.
  2. Read the seller's sales page before you promote it. Your store's name is on the recommendation.
  3. Click the button on the listing to get your affiliate link. It is labelled Promote or Get Affiliate Link, depending on the version.
  4. Choose your nickname. Leave the tracking id empty: your store adds its own (see below).
  5. Copy the HopLink.

A HopLink contains hop.clickbank.net. ClickBank may scramble your nickname in the link; it still works the same way.

Add the link to your store as a custom offer

A ClickBank link goes into your store as a custom offer. The offer puts a buy button with your link on the product page. All the steps below are in your store admin at https://your-store-domain/admin.

For a new product

  1. Go to Store > Products > Products and click New.
  2. Fill in the product title, content and images.
  3. In the Where to Buy (Custom Offer) section, paste your ClickBank link into Affiliate Link / URL.
  4. Choose the Locale, add the price in Price (optional), and save.
  5. Go to Store > Products > Offers and open the new offer to set the shop name and price note (see the fields below).

For a product you already have

Open the product, scroll to the Offers panel and click New. The Create a Custom Offer form opens. When you save, the offer is linked to that product.

The fields that matter for a ClickBank link

  • Affiliate Link: your ClickBank link, exactly as ClickBank gave it to you.
  • Shop Name: the name shown on the buy button, for example "the product's name". A tracking link from a network shows no shop name unless you fill this in.
  • Price: the price on the shop's page today. Add Full Price only when the shop shows a discount.
  • Price note: a few words beside the price, for example "from". "from" goes before the price ("from £89"). Anything else goes after it ("£89 per night"). Leave it blank for a plain price.
  • Locale (under Settings on the right): choose All Locales. Most ClickBank products are digital and sell to every country.

HINT: Adding many products? Use Import CSV on Store > Products > Products. Each row makes one product and its custom offer, with columns such as url, price, price_note and retailer_name (the shop name). Developers can use the Store API instead: see the Store API guide.

For every option on a custom offer, see the Custom Offers feature guide.

The tracking sub id: which store sent the click

Your store adds a tracking sub id to every ClickBank link by itself. You do not need to change the link. ClickBank calls this value TID (tracking id) (tid in the link). It shows in your ClickBank reports, so you can see which store sent each click and sale when one account serves several stores.

The default is your store's domain with a hyphen for each dot. For example, mystore.com becomes mystore-com. ClickBank accepts letters and numbers only, so on ClickBank links your store removes the hyphens and underscores and keeps the first 24 characters: mystore.com becomes mystorecom.

To use your own value, go to Store > Settings > Offers, find the Custom Offers section and fill in Tracking sub id. Use letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, up to 50 characters. Leave it blank to keep the default.

If your link already has its own tid value, your store leaves it as it is.

More detail is in the Offer Settings feature guide.

See your clicks

Go to Sales > Affiliate Clicks in your store admin. The Destination column shows the domain of the link each visitor clicked. For ClickBank links this is hop.clickbank.net (sometimes with letters in front). Use the Destination filter to show only those clicks.

The domain is the network's, so all your ClickBank shops share it. To see the clicks for one shop, go to Store > Products > Offers, open the offer, and scroll to Affiliate Clicks. Your ClickBank reports show the same clicks, split by the tracking sub id. See the Affiliate Clicks feature guide.

Common problems

  • I have sales but no payment. Check the Customer Distribution Requirement above and your payment threshold.
  • My ClickBank report shows no TID. Your store adds it only to HopLinks. If ClickBank gave you a direct link to the seller's own site, use the HopLink instead.
  • The link opens a page I did not expect. The seller chooses the landing page. Some sellers offer other pages in the Marketplace; choose one there.
  • The buy button shows no shop name. Open the offer and fill in Shop Name.
  • The price changed. Sellers change prices and packages often. Check the sales page and update the offer price, or leave Price blank if the seller has many packages.
