Your Reviews - Feature Guide

Give any product in your site your own review. It tells visitors what you think of the product, and it gives Google a review from you instead of the generated stars. In your site admin this feature is called Your Reviews. On your site, visitors see it as Our review or Our rating.

TIP: Reviews in your own words work best. Shoppers trust them, and search engines look for them. If AI drafts a review for you, check it and add what you know about the product before you publish it.

What a review has

Your rating: a score from 1 to 5, with one decimal place if you like, for example 4.3.
Verdict: a short summary of what you think.
What we like: the pros, one per line.
Worth knowing: the cons, one per line.

Your review is credited to the author name set in your site. If no author name is set, it is credited to your site.

Write a review for a product

Go to Products and edit the product.
Open the Reviews tab.
In the Your review section, type a score from 1 to 5 in Your rating, for example 4 or 4.3. Then add a verdict, pros and cons.
Click Save.

Click AI Draft to have AI write a first review from the product's details. It uses AI Chips like the other AI writing tools. The draft gives a score with one decimal place. Check and edit the draft before you save it.

Your Reviews page

Go to Products > Your Reviews to see every product's review in one place. The page has three tabs:

Drafts to check

AI drafts that are not on your site yet. Click Check and publish to open a draft, edit it, then click Publish. Click Discard to delete a draft. To act on many drafts at once, select them and choose Publish as written or Discard drafts.
Published

Products with a review on your site. Click Edit to change one.
None yet

Products with no review. Click Write to write one yourself. To have AI draft reviews, select products and choose Draft reviews with AI. Select all to draft a review for every product that does not have one.

Click Review settings at the top of the page to open the settings for AI reviews.

When drafts are waiting, your dashboard shows a Check N AI review drafts card. Click it to go straight to them.

AI drafts

AI drafts are not on your site until you publish them. Drafts from Automatic AI Reviews and from Draft reviews with AI wait in Drafts to check, unless you turn on Auto Publish AI Reviews.

Automatic AI Reviews

Go to Settings > Products and find the Your Reviews section. Automatic AI Reviews is on by default.

It drafts a review for each new product once the product's content is written.
It works for products from your Auto Populators and from every other import.
Each review uses about 1,200 AI Chips.
Some AI Chips are always kept back, so your product content keeps being written.
A product that already has a review is never changed.

Auto Publish AI Reviews

Auto Publish AI Reviews is in the same section and is off by default. When you turn it on, AI reviews skip the draft step and go live on your site straight away.

With Auto Publish on, AI reviews go live under your name before you read them. We recommend you leave it off and check each draft first.

Draft reviews for products you already have

Automatic AI Reviews only drafts reviews for new products. For products you already have, use Draft reviews with AI. You can find it in two places:

On the None yet tab of the Your Reviews page.
In your products list: select products, then choose Actions > Draft reviews with AI.

The products list also has a Your review filter. Use it to show products with an AI draft waiting, with a Published review, or with None yet.

Publish or discard a draft

You can check drafts on the Your Reviews page, as described above. You can also check one from the product itself:

Edit the product and open the Reviews tab.
In the Your review section, a notice shows the waiting draft.
Click Use this draft to fill the fields with it. Edit the fields, then click Save to publish the review.
Or click Discard draft to delete it.

Change the setting for many sites

You can turn Automatic AI Reviews or Auto Publish AI Reviews on or off for many sites at once.

Log in to your FreshStore account at my.freshstore.com.
In your Sites list, select the sites.
Click Change, then Change a setting.
Choose Automatic AI reviews or Auto publish AI reviews.

Rate a product in a review article

Edit the article and open the Rating tab.
Choose the Reviewed product and type your score in Your rating.
Turn on Use this as the product's rating to put the same rating on the product page.

A rated article uses the Review formula, which shows the rating with the verdict.

Where it shows

On the product page, as Our review, with your verdict, pros and cons and a link to your review article if you have one.
On product cards across your site, with your exact score, for example Our review 4.3.
In the Top rated sort: products with your own rating come first, then products with generated stars.
In Google, when Your ratings in Google is on in Traffic > Search Engines > Rich Results. Google gets your exact score.

Stars fill in half steps, so the number beside them shows the exact score. The Podium template fills its stars exactly. Products without your review show the generated stars with the score and review count beside them, for example 4.4 (212 reviews), or 4.4 (212) on compact rows.

Your review still shows when product reviews are hidden in your site settings. Your affiliate disclosure shows beside it.

AI-built sites

When the AI site builder builds a new site, it writes a first review for its products and publishes them straight away. Edit any of them, or clear a review to go back to the generated stars.

Site API and CSV

The Site API and product CSV import and export carry the review fields, so you can review many products at once. Both take a rating from 1 to 5 with one decimal place, for example 4.3. In a CSV import (Tools > Data > Importer), an empty cell keeps the stored value and a cell holding only a hyphen (-) clears it. See the FreshStore Site API guide.

Questions

Does my review replace the generated stars?

Yes, on that product. Products without your review keep the generated stars.

Why can't I see an AI draft on my site?

Drafts are not on your site until you publish them. Go to Products > Your Reviews and open the Drafts to check tab.

Will Automatic AI Reviews change a review I wrote?

No. A product that already has a review is never changed.

Will Automatic AI Reviews use up all my AI Chips?

No. Some AI Chips are always kept back, so your product content keeps being written.

Can I remove a review?

Yes. Edit the product and open the Reviews tab. Clear Your rating so it shows "No rating", clear the verdict, pros and cons, then click Save.
