Buy Buttons and Prices - Feature Guide

Buy buttons send your visitors to the retailer, and that click is how you earn. This guide covers the settings that control how your buy buttons look, what words they use, and how prices show across your store. They work the same on all six templates.

Where to find the settings

  • Design > Store Options, Buy Buttons tab: how the buttons look and what they show.
  • Store > Text > Global Text, Buy Buttons tab: the words on the buttons.
  • Design > Store Options, Products tab, and Store > Settings > Offers: how prices show.

Buy button settings

Go to Design > Store Options and open the Buy Buttons tab.

  • Buy Button Style

Each template has two button styles. Style A is the one it ships with. Style B is an alternative drawn from the same template. This changes the buttons on product pages, in articles and on product cards.

    Buttons on Product Lists

The buttons under each product on your homepage, category, brand and search pages, and in related products. Choose one of:

    • Both buttons: the retailer, then your product page (the default). A button straight to the retailer, for example "£42.00 at Amazon", and a quieter button to your product page.
    • The retailer only
    • Your product page only

A button to your product page never shows a price or a retailer, because that is not where it goes.

  • Show the Price on Buy Buttons

On by default. Puts the price on a button that goes to the retailer, for example "£42.00 at Amazon". Switch it off to use your "Buy Button Words (No Price)" instead. On product lists the price then shows above the buttons.

  • Show the Retailer's Name on Buy Buttons

On by default. Puts the retailer's name on the button, for example "at Amazon". Switch it off to show only the price or your own words.

  • Retailer Logo on Buy Buttons

Shows the retailer's small logo On the button or Beside the button, for Amazon, eBay, Walmart, AliExpress and Etsy. The default is No logo. The retailer list on a product page already shows each logo beside its button.

  • Show Prices on Custom Offers

Off by default. A custom offer is a product you added from any website, for example with the Product Importer. No retailer updates its price, so it keeps the price it had on the day you added it. That is why its price and "Updated" time are hidden and its button uses your "Buy Button Words (No Price)". Switch this on to show the price anyway. See the Custom Offers feature guide.

Click Save Settings.

The words on your buttons

Go to Store > Text > Global Text and open the Buy Buttons tab. Each field is used exactly as you write it. :price and :retailer are filled in for each offer.

Field When it shows Default
Buy Button Words (With Price) A retailer button with a price :price at :retailer
Buy Button Words (No Price) A retailer button with no price to show, or with prices switched off Check price at :retailer
Buy Button Words (No Offer In The Visitor's Country) The product has no offer in the visitor's country, so the button opens that retailer's search in the visitor's own country Find at :retailer
Product Page Button Words A button to your own product page, on product lists and embedded products View product

Leave out :price or :retailer and that part is simply not shown. Some templates start with their own words for the product page button, such as "See the pick" on Podium.

How prices show

Estimated prices

When a product has no price in your visitor's country, your store shows an estimate from the best price in another country, converted into the visitor's currency. It is marked so visitors know, for example £43.33 (estimated). On a computer, hover over the price to see where the estimate came from.

To turn estimates off, go to Store > Settings > Offers and switch off Estimated Prices. It is on by default. See the Offer Settings feature guide.

Click for Price

When no store in any country has a price for a product, the price reads Click for Price. The same text shows for a custom offer whose price is hidden. To change the words, go to Store > Text > Global Text, open the Offers tab and edit Offer Price Fallback Text.

Other price settings

On the Products tab of Design > Store Options:

  • Convert Prices to the Visitor's Currency (on by default): shows every price in the visitor's own currency. Switch it off to show another country's price in its own currency, with the country beside it.
  • Show When Each Price Was Checked (on by default): shows when each offer's price was last read from the retailer, beside each offer on a product page. A price read in the last day shows as "Updated 2h ago". An older price shows the date and time it was read, for example "As of 3 Oct, 14:20 UTC".
  • Show Prices Read From the Retailer's Page (on by default): some prices in your store are read from the retailer's own product page instead of through the retailer's API. Amazon's Associates Program Policies ask that the prices you show come from Amazon's API or Amazon's own links, so you decide whether to show these. Switch it off to hide them everywhere in your store, including the product's structured data. The buy button and stock status stay, the button uses your "Buy Button Words (No Price)", and no estimated price takes their place.

Tips

  • Keep Both buttons on product lists unless you have a reason to change it. Visitors who are ready to buy go straight to the retailer, and visitors who want to know more go to your product page.
  • Keep button words short so they fit on a phone.
  • If you add products with the Product Importer, leave Show Prices on Custom Offers off unless you update those prices yourself. A stale price can put visitors off.

Questions and Troubleshooting

Why does a button say "Find at Amazon" instead of a price?

That product has no offer in the visitor's country, so the button opens a search on that retailer in their own country. Change the words with Buy Button Words (No Offer In The Visitor's Country).

Why does a price say "(estimated)"?

There is no price in the visitor's country, so the store shows an estimate from another country's price. Switch estimates off at Store > Settings > Offers if you prefer.

Why does a product show no price and no "Updated" time?

Either its offer is a custom offer and Show Prices on Custom Offers is off, or its price was read from the retailer's page and Show Prices Read From the Retailer's Page is off. Both are on the Design > Store Options page.

Why does my imported product show no price?

Prices on custom offers are hidden by default because no retailer keeps them up to date. Switch on Show Prices on Custom Offers to show them.
