Can I reset my store design or change theme?
Short answer: yes to both. Design > Themes changes the whole look of your store in one click, and the Reset Design button puts every design setting back to its default. Both keep your content.
How to change theme
- In your store admin, go to Design > Themes.
- Click a theme card and confirm.
A theme switch keeps your content and replaces your style. The section layout, colours and fonts become the ones that suit the new theme. Your storefront updates within a few minutes, once the cache clears.
Changing your mind
For 30 days after a switch, a Revert button at the top of the Themes page puts your previous design back: the section layout, your colours and your fonts. Switching again replaces the saved copy, so you can always go back one step.

How to reset your design
- Go to Design > Store Options. The same button is at the top of Design > Themes.
- Click Reset Design at the top of the page.
- Choose the options in the confirmation and click Reset design.
The confirmation has two tick boxes:
- Also reset my homepage layout: puts your homepage sections back in your theme's order. What you wrote in each section is kept. It is ticked to start with.
- Also delete my Custom CSS: only shown if you have Custom CSS. This cannot be undone, so leave it off unless your own CSS is the problem.
The change is applied straight away. Visitors see it within a few minutes, once your store cache refreshes.
What the reset changes
- Colour scheme and any custom colours
- Fonts, text sizes and alignment
- Logo settings, such as the logo type and size
- Header and footer options
- Homepage section options, including the hero
- Product page and cart options
What the reset keeps
Your content is not touched. Products, categories, articles, pages, your own text, your images, your links and your featured picks all stay as they are.
Your uploaded logo file is kept too, but the logo setting goes back to default. If your header shows a built-in icon after the reset, go to Design > Logo and set the logo type back to your own image.
Undoing a reset
If you left Also reset my homepage layout ticked, you can undo the reset from the Themes page for 30 days, the same way as a theme switch.
Both Reset Design and a theme switch are blocked while you have unpublished changes in the Store Editor. Publish or discard them first.
