How to add your store products to Pinterest

Pinterest is a powerful visual traffic source for affiliate stores, and your FreshStore is already set up to feed it. There are three ways to get your products onto Pinterest, from pinning a single product by hand to loading your whole catalogue automatically. This guide covers all three.

New to Pinterest? Create a Pinterest Business account and set up your boards first. Our guide 🔗 Starting a Pinterest profile walks you through account setup, boards, and building a following.

First, claim your store (this unlocks Rich Pins)

Before you share products, claim your store's domain inside your Pinterest account settings. Claiming your website unlocks Rich Pins, which automatically show live price and availability on every Pin.

This works because FreshStore already adds the required product data (Schema Markup) to all of your product pages for you. You do not need to add any code. Learn more in 🔗 Schema Markup & Rich Results.

Option 1: Pin individual products (quickest)

Every product page in your store has a Pinterest Save button. Click it to pin that product straight to one of your boards, with the image, title, and link filled in for you.

Your visitors can use the same button to pin your products to their own boards, which spreads your products across Pinterest for free. This is the fastest way to get started and works well for your best products.

Option 2: Auto-pin new products from your RSS feed

Your store automatically generates RSS feeds of your products, so you do not have to pin everything by hand.

Find your feeds in your store admin area under Traffic > Content Marketing > RSS Feeds. You will see feeds for New Products, Recently Updated Products, Popular Products, and one for each product category.

Pinterest no longer publishes Pins directly from an RSS feed. Instead, connect your feed URL to a social scheduling tool such as Tailwind or Buffer, or an automation tool such as Zapier, Make, or IFTTT. Each new product you add to your store then becomes a Pin automatically.

For more on feeds, see 🔗 RSS Feeds - Feature Guide and 🔗 Using RSS feeds to generate traffic.

Option 3: Load your full catalogue with a product feed (advanced)

If you want your entire catalogue on Pinterest as shoppable Product Pins, use a Pinterest Catalog. A catalog reads a single product feed and turns every product into a Pin.

Your store publishes a ready-made product feed for this at:

https://yourstore.com/feed/google-merchant-products.rss

Replace yourstore.com with your own store domain. In Pinterest Business, go to Catalogs, add a data source, and paste in that feed URL.

You must claim your store domain in Pinterest before you can use a Catalog. Pinterest also reviews new catalogs before Product Pins go live, so allow a little time. Pinterest has its own feed rules, so some products may not be accepted.

Which option should I use?

  • Just starting out: pin your best products by hand (Option 1).
  • Want a steady stream of Pins: auto-pin new products from your RSS feed (Option 2).
  • Want your whole catalogue on Pinterest: set up a Catalog with your product feed (Option 3).

Whichever you choose, keep your Pins consistent and your images vertical for the best results. See 🔗 Starting a Pinterest profile for board and pinning strategy.
