Admin Search - Feature Guide
Looking for a setting and not sure which page or tab it lives on? The admin search box at the top of every dashboard page now finds individual settings, design options, text fields, links, and images alongside the existing record results.
Where to find it
The search box sits at the top of every page in your store admin. You can also open it with Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows or Linux).
What you can search for
Type any part of the field's name, the section it lives in, or a related word. The search looks across:
-
Store Settings
Every field across Store, Product, Offers, Articles, Traffic, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, AliExpress, Walmart, and API Keys, including per-country credentials.
-
Design
Colour scheme, typography, logo, global options, product options, headers, footers, hero, highlight boxes, and more.
-
Text
Every editable piece of frontend text on your store, from the newsletter title to the cart button label to the checkout link text.
-
Pages
Any homepage, cart, contact, about, newsletter, or other page-specific text, link, or option.
Each result shows what type of field it is (Image, Text, Option, Link, or Setting) and the page and section where you can edit it.
Smart keyword matches
Searching by the field's exact name works, but you can also use everyday words. For example:
- Type "highlight box 3" to jump straight to the homepage's third highlight box link
- Type "og image" or "social preview" to find the Default Social Image
- Type "powered by" to find the FreshStore link in your footer
- Type "callout" or "feature box" to find the homepage highlight boxes
- Type "amazon US tag" to jump to your US Amazon tracking ID
The search understands synonyms and alternative names for most fields, so you don't need to remember the exact label.
HINT: If you ever search for something and don't get the right result, contact us through the support button at the bottom right of any admin page and we will add the synonym for next time.
What happens when you click a result
When you click a search result, three things happen in quick succession:
- You are taken to the page that owns the field.
- The right tab is opened automatically (for example, the Footer tab on Global Options, or the Images tab on a Page edit).
- A soft amber spotlight briefly highlights the exact field, with the rest of the page dimmed so it is easy to spot.
The highlight fades after about 2.5 seconds, leaving you ready to make changes. If you click anywhere on the page in the meantime, the dim disappears so you can keep working.
Per-country marketplace fields
Marketplace credentials (Amazon, eBay, Etsy, AliExpress, Walmart) have one set per supported country. Each per-country field is now individually findable. Include the country code in your search for a precise hit:
- "amazon de api key" goes straight to your German Amazon API key
- "ebay gb tracking" goes straight to your UK eBay tracking ID
- "etsy us shared secret" goes straight to your US Etsy shared secret
Tips
- If a field has the same name as another (like "Title"), look at the Section detail under the result to disambiguate.
- Keep your query short and specific for the best ranking. The search returns the top relevant matches first.
- If a result links to a Page edit, the spotlight will activate the Texts, Links, Images, or Options tab as needed when the page loads.
Questions and Troubleshooting
The search doesn't find what I'm looking for. What should I do?
Try a shorter or more general phrase first. If you still can't find it, the field may not have a matching keyword yet. Get in touch via the support button and we will add the synonym so it works next time.
Can I search for products, articles, and categories too?
Yes. The new field search is added on top of the existing record search, so the same box still finds your products, articles, categories, and other records.
The page loaded but the field isn't highlighted. What happened?
The spotlight only shows for a few seconds after the page loads. If you came back to the page later or refreshed without the search URL, the highlight is gone. Run the search again from the search box and click the result.
