Do I Need My Own Amazon Creators API Credentials?
No, you do not need your own Amazon API credentials. Your FreshStore Amazon stores work fully without them.
However, if you have an active Amazon Associates account with at least 10 sales in the last 30 days, you can optionally add your own credentials. This gives your stores a couple of nice benefits:
- Unlock more countries. Want to use Amazon Germany, France, Italy, or other marketplaces? Adding your own credentials for those countries gives your stores much better data on those marketplaces.
- Faster, more reliable data. Your own credentials give your stores dedicated API access, meaning faster product updates and less chance of hitting rate limits.
This is completely optional. If you are happy with how your stores are working, there is nothing you need to do.
How to Add Your Own Credentials
If you qualify (10+ sales on a marketplace), the process takes about 10 minutes:
- Sign into Amazon Associates Central for your marketplace.
- Go to Tools > Creators API and create an application.
- Create your credentials (instant once approved).
- Paste them into Settings > Amazon > Creators API in your FreshStore dashboard.

What About the Old PA-API Keys?
Amazon is retiring the old Product Advertising API (PA-API) on May 15, 2026. If you previously entered your own PA-API keys, those will stop working after that date. The replacement is the Creators API, which is what FreshStore now uses. You do not need to do anything about this. FreshStore handles it automatically.
